Matt Haig est né à Sheffield (Royaume-Uni) en 1975. Il est journaliste et écrivain. Ses romans sont pour la plupart de sombres et étranges histoires de famille. S'inspirant de pièces de Shakespeare pour certains de ses textes, il publie en 2007 Shadow Forest, qui a remporté treize prix littéraires.
En 2010, il écrit le best-seller The Radleys, traduit dans plus de vingt langues. Ce roman est actuellement adapté par Alfonso Cuarón, réalisateur de Y tu mamá también et de Harry Potter et le Prisonnier d'Azbakan.
